    i feel like it could be helpful to see side by side the differences between detail level of different scales, i couldnt find any on a couple of google searches unfortunately but if u say took a clean 4k image, and essentially tried to squish it into these sizes u might be able to then show the difference in detail between each all the way down to 64, and if u did it with different styles aka anime, vs photo real, vs whatever it might make a super handy reference for people in all the different digital art fields... and make a great youtube video. i at least did find this, the standard size of each scale, its a 2/3rd increase from each to the next and i dont know how many textures a game generally uses at minimum but i presume it will be quite a few 128×128 59.1KB 256×256 196 KB 512×512 654 KB 1024×1024 2.17 MB 2048×2048 7.43 MB 4096×4096 24.82 MB 8192×8192 83.39 MB

    there is something im still struggling to understand which is holding me back from being confident to start is the order or a good ordering system in which each thing should be done overall. this includes scaling, blender addons, modeling, sculpting, retopology, rigging and retargeting, textures, keyshapes, clothing and accessories, and about a million other things plus if u have custom characters there might be hacks, i just dont want to do them in the wrong order and then have to find work arounds or skip things. do you have a tutorial that goes through the order of your workflow so i can just adopt the same workflow and know each future step i will take after each thing i do. u know how youtube is, a billion suggestions in random order but u dont necessarily know what u need to learn or apply them in

    When it comes to body motion Mass Effect was a particularly egregious case. There the motion of the female Shepard was exactly the same as the male one. It didn't look good at all. It was obvious that they didn't bother to do a separate motion capture for the female Shepard by an actual female. The result was that the female moved like a dude, which was especially obvious and ugly when she transitions form walking to running or turning while running.

    u inspired me to submit my own, there was no similar submission but hope the feature isnt already in blender my thought was snap to floor and snap to centre like the new unreal versions have would be helpful to do it with objects because who wants to spend a minute preping before they get to work. but also it could work in edit mode on verts n faces, snapping verts to floor might be helpful for creating pillars, i know u can extrude but this would give u the exact height u want depending where u started off the floor. the other useful part is for low poly models feet and for ai generated animations, so u can snap the feet to be perfectly flat on the floor by snapping the virts to floor, and in animation ai gened animations tend to float and u have to fix that so snapping feet bones to the floor and only having to animate the knees would be great because feet are more often on the floor than in the air.. also we need a scale since so much of blender is modeling characters and the softwares all use different measurements. as u mentioned things break if u scale after u import a model to another software sometimes. oh yeah and an instant scaler thats in metric, so u click your character type 184cm and u have a character instantly 6 foot, snap to centre snap to floor ur ready to go, so easy. and i also put shift plus arrow keys to grid snap, because maybe u want to move your character in increments, or move them out of centre so u can snap another model or object to centre and work on it.

    these are great suggestions and i can say after opening blender for the first time a few days ago i spent the last few days clicking and i havnt even used it yet, this would have been a good way to get me trying out the software rather than being daunted by all the stuff there is to learn and not knowing where to start. i did take a quick glance at unreal engine and the assets browser as soon as u see it u klnow what its for, sure its a bit advanced with all the right click create this and that but its a cool system and it would be cool if blender had one that was easy to use

    And yet your whole video premis contradicts itself. If walking is supposed to tell you about the character well then one thing you did not say is Eve and B2 are stone cold killers. Melee combat experts that will spill your guts and forget you 2 minutes later. According to your philosophy these animations suck because you do not get the correct impression of who they are from their walk. you're welcome.

      Bro u missed the point. The animations show the personality and depth in the character. 2b and eve have deeper motives and emotions than just killing and what distinguishes them from other video characters isn’t the fact that they are stone cold killers. Just because it doesn’t portray a singular point(which is that they kill people), it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t encapsulate the essence of their character. Killing is not the sole and defining feature of their character. Regardless, although you (completely validly) may think that their walk doesn’t portray their characters accurately, their walk still undoubtedly shows a sense of personality the producers are trying to depict. It differs drastically from a game like csgo, where even though their aim is not to show character in their animation, the characters still seem ultimately lifeless

    can i do something like this. take a face trhat already has the blendshapes for example a custom vroid face, cut out the eye and mouth sections on it and my model, fit the meshes of both together and keep the blendshapes working? this would be amazing for creating anime characters and vroids license would allow u to still sell your models any way u want

    im just thinking to hit a bigger demographic with your game which looks awesome would be to have one of those tower defense game modes built in where the waves get progressively harder as you play longer, or if the world was bigger so people could feel like there is some secret strategy to finding the right location, it would still be a simple game just feel much less simple than being confined to the starting area.

    as you may have noticed from some of my other commments, i want to be able to transfer rigs but unfortunately my characters have digitigrade legs which severely limits what rigs i can transfer, and i really want to know if i can somehow still do it and make the necessary adjustments if needed afterwards. it would be even cooler if i could use the unreal engine manniquin rig and then digitigrade it later. is anything like this theoretically possible? and would u consider doing a tutorial on it since there is a severe lack of decent digitigrade leg tutorials apart from your ones

    how do you remember all this stuff. for me remembering like a single node i have to use is difficult then u have all the variable numbers that work for u and like 8 other nodes that have to be connected a certain way and with certain variables too. also, what tutorial playlists are u currently working on and updating so i know where to expect new content atm or do u just swap between them as u learn a new thing?

    there has got to be something we can do. im not a UE user, but couldnt there be a way to make changes to the unreal engine mannequin like u did with the heels and then just use that on all of your out of proportion characters? like say all your proportions were the same but ur character had digitigrade legs, would u be able to copy manny make changes, use it as your base rig, then use it to retarget instead of manny? unreal is so customisable it seems weird to me they dont have a set up for animals and animal like characters or some kinda way to customise the rigs

    What a bunch of nonsensical pseudoscience garbage to justify an ass filled clickbaity video. This is what makes good animation? How "pretty" the girl walks? Good animations are, as you said, visualizations that try to convey the actions. Snake as an example in MGS4, he walks slower when going through mud, or when climbing, and he doesnt get half his body motion locked when aiming... 2Bs? Whats so impressive about that one? Typical over-styled action animations you see in hundreds of games. Cool, but nothing technically or emotionally impressive about it. Had you at least chosen Bayonetta, to display a proper femme fatale type of character. Walking is one of the simplest and most standard animations in a game. All of 2Bs sensuality gets thrown through the windows once she starts running, slashing, etc... She becomes Dante literally. Bayonetta's smoothness and sensuality remains cohesive during all of her movements, pretty much dancing while slashing and shooting everyone on screen. And theres a reason for that, she was not built for fanservice. Her femme fatale persona is her point of origin. She was intended to be like that artistically so her entire persona, sassyness and movements where designed with that in mind. 2B is just a secondary actor, a fan service device in a game where storytelling and gameplay are the main actors. You replace 2B with Eve and nothing changes. Both are pretty nonsensical characters in their games. Bayonetta on the other hand is the focus of her game and removing her would absolutely butcher the game. And in regards to Eve's animations? Lol... Good animation? Joke of the century... She walks like a kid. Her persona is absolutely unreal given her origin and purpose. Have you seen how she climbs stairs? How she swims? Eve is just an anime style over sexualized doll. Her lack of muscles, small frame, disproportionate butt,... They all convey the image of an average if not sedentary teenager obsessed with tick tok. Theres nothing though, sensual or strong about neither her visual representation nor her animations.

    Muscle simulation is still too computationally expensive for realtime these days, maybe in the next generation of GPU. The next best thing is Blendshapes, which require extra work from the modeler. This solution works great for muscle animation in general as you all can check in God of War (2018).

    You used to be my utmost reference just because of your views number, but now that I'm more experienced I see that some things you say should be taken with a few grains of salt. 0:40 This is why I have a love-hate relationship with your videos. The information you're delivering is excellent but you always have to make this type of personal remarks revealing your elitist tendencies. You never miss a chance to throw some discouraging little jabs at people. You're probably bad at reading social clues but anyone who isn't will catch up on this. You tend to put artists that made it in the social media game too high on a pedestal like their level is unreachable. There are so many unknown artists who are not active online, and each day there's a hardworking beginner slowly growing up to advanced level. 1:55 Regarding the pricing comment, it's common sense that fine artistry is an expensive field which requires substantial money. Some pieces are indeed sold at a price of "almost nothing" when compared to the production cost, however what is considered nothing for finantially stable people is everything that a starving family is needing. No need to go to that extreme, many of us ran out of money to further invest so it's discouraging to hear these types of comments. 2:17 Are you aware that most of these beautiful models you're showing weren't made by Japanese themselves? If you only knew how much of Japanese Anime was made by foreigners you'd think twice before overvaluing the japanese way of doing things. 2:57 Most ideal isn't the most practical for every situations. There's no denying that Kaoru Sakaki has mastered proportions and topology, and so could anyone because the knowledge is already out there for anyone who studies and practices hard enough, however this model isn't optimized for Animation and Game Development.

    walking cycles is something really subtle that I really liked in monster hunter world, the male and female avatars had different walking cycles, male stayed consistent with a more heavy masculine stroll, for lack of a better description and female avatars started with the male avatars stroll, but if you kept walking for a few seconds they would change to a more catwalk beautypagent kind of stroll. It was a very subtle detail I only noticed like 200 hours into playing it, but ever since I noticed it I never could unsee it, which also made it very disappointing to find out that monster hunter rise totally removed that small detail, with all hunters sharing the same walking cycle, it was such a small detail but one I really appreciated

    Eve's walk animation is good? She's stiff, has awkward posture, and slides across the ground lmao
